What is STEAM learning?
STEAM is the new variation of STEM learning. STEM stands for Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEAM is STEM with ARTS which allows for children and teachers to learn key skills for the 21st century and beyond.
Why is STEAM learning so important?
STEAM is not just a buzz word. It is so much more than that. It is another form of blended learning whereby learning and teaching occurs in a holistic environment developing and extending essential skills for the information age. Importantly, the learning takes place in a fun and often collaborative way where the students are extremely engaged and can really personalise the learning to suit their interests. Some of the skills that students can learn aside from the technical skills include computational thinking, systems thinking, design thinking, critical thinking, creative thinking, collaboration, communication, problem-solving and resilience.
